Alien: Isolation sales reach 2.1m, FM15 810K

Publish date: 2022-05-20

Sega's annual financial results are out and they show a lifetime 2.11m sales for the accomplished Alien: Isolation, and 810,000 for Football Manger 2015.

That's not a disaster for Alien but nor will it be seen - for a costly triple-A production - as a barnstorming success. GamesIndustry International pointed out that many of those sales could have been done at a discounted price.

Nevertheless, Alien: Isolation developer Creative Assembly is already hiring for "another multiplatform AAA blockbuster", although it's not necessarily an Alien game.

Other game sales for the year ended 31st March 2015:

This financial year (ends March 2016) Sega plans to release 20 games outside of Japan. However, the packaged game market is seen as having "softened", despite numbers rising during the year just reported.

Sega's focus instead looks to be on mobile games and digital games supporting the freemium model. Mind you, all that can serve to prop up projects we're excited about such as Total War: Warhammer.

Sega as a whole made a net loss of $94m, with wider restructuring costs part of the reason why.
