Call of Duty: Warzone's High Alert perk will soon hear Dead Silent footsteps
Raven has teased some upcoming changes to Call of Duty: Warzone in the latest patch notes for the battle royale.
The developer plans to update the High Alert perk to let players hear Dead Silent footsteps. Currently, all High Alert does is make your vision pulse whenever enemies outside of your view see you. By then, of course, it's often too late.
This change to High Alert is important for anyone who plays Warzone - a game in which your ability to hear your enemy coming can make the difference between winning and losing a gunfight.
The popular Dead Silence field upgrade does exactly what it says on the tin: it temporarily makes your footsteps silent. But there's more: it also makes your movement slightly faster.
It's extremely powerful in Warzone. Getting the jump on an opponent is often the name of the game, and if they can't hear your footsteps, you're at a distinct advantage.
Too much of an advantage? Dead Silence critics point to the field upgrade's lack of a downside. Other field upgrades, which many are currently neglecting because they can't compete with Dead Silence, do have a downside. Stopping Power, for example, adds recoil. Deployable Cover has an animation that must run its course before the cover hits the battlefield. And using the Recon Drone leaves you defenseless.
Currently, Warzone does not contain a decent Dead Silence counter. Players had suggested Raven make an existing perk, such as High Alert, detect players using Dead Silence. Clearly, that was a good shout.
That's not all Raven teased for Warzone. The developer confirmed two new Warzone-specific perks are coming to the battle royale, although it didn't say what they are.
And finally, Raven said a weapon will make its "long-awaited" debut in Verdansk. The developer stopped short of saying what this weapon will be, but current speculation points to the CX-9, the unreleased Modern Warfare SMG used in a recently-released new Warzone Payload gameplay video, as spotted by CharlieIntel.
