D4 PC gets a June release date

Publish date: 2023-01-04

Hidetaka "Swery" Suehiro's Deadly Premonition follow-up, D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die, is heading to PC on 5th June for $14.99 (about £10), the developer announced on Twitter.

It will be available on Steam, GOG, Humble Store and Playism.

Swery also suggested that future episodes of D4 are on the way. "The next season will be even better than you're all expecting, so please keep cheering me on," the director said in an interview with Gamasutra before teasing the following image:

"Hopefully this is enough to tide you over for now!" he added.

The PC port of D4 will have mouse controls rather than Kinect ones. Swery noted that the player reaction to D4's PC port at PAX East was that "it felt easier to play now."

Eurogamer contributor Dan Whitehead was rather enamoured with D4 upon its launch last year on Xbox One. "D4 is a game that confirms Swery as a truly eclectic and distinctive outsider artist," he wrote in his D4 review. "In a medium that so often lazily co-opts the language of cult cinema, or pays surface homage to pulp fiction while missing its offbeat heart, that's something worth celebrating."
