How to get Hung Jury SR4 in Destiny 2

Years after the Hung Jury SR4 was a possible drop via Strikes in the original Destiny, as part of The Taken King expansion, this scout rifle is back in the fight. We hope you've gathered enough practice during the weeks before, as you will have to complete Nightfall Strikes for a chance to acquire it. As with the One Plug.1, the iconic scout rifle will be available during set weeks as part of Season of the Splicer.

You can see when it will next be available as part of our Nightfall weapon schedule explainer.

As a reminder, it's just a chance it can drop. The more you increase the difficulty, the better your chances will be. As always, if you can get to at least one difficulty above Adept, this should set a nice foundation to stumble upon the weapon.

As a Legendary weapon, one would lead one to believe that the drop should be more regular than some Exotics. Sadly, that's not the case.

Rates continue to be arbitrary at best, and developer Bungie is yet to provide any official info on them. Relying on luck is something Destiny players are already accustomed with, but currently, Nightfall weapons have been rather elusive. Reddit user i-dont-grok-it completed over 30 Nightfall strikes in the span of a week, around half on Hero difficulty and the other half on Legend difficulty, for a chance to unlock the Hung Jury weapon. But they had no luck on this regard.

That same thread has multiple cases of other people's experiences, showcasing how much drop rates vary.

Starting Tuesday, June 22nd, Grandmaster Nightfall will become available in Season of the Splicer - this means an Adept version of this weapon is also up for grabs.

It still might be rare - but in theory, your chances should be better on such a high difficulty.

If you're wondering whether or not this task is worth your squad's time, let's look into the possible rolls and god roll for the Hung Jury SR4.

Season of the Haunted is here! Get up to speed with our levelling guide. For The Witch Queen, learn how to get Exotics including Dead Messenger and Parasite. Late last year, we saw the Bungie 30th Anniversary, which adds the Grasp of Avarice dungeon, Strange Coins and new Exotics, including the Gjallarhorn and Forerunner.

Hung Jury SR4 god roll recommendation in Destiny 2

Hung Jury SR4 is a weapon with random rolls - meaning each time you get one, the barrel, rounds and perks will be randomised.

As per usual, coming up with a 'best' combination of rolls and perks is rather tricky since it will vary depending on your taste and the modes that you have in mind for the weapon. A few will be great for PvE, while others excel at PvP instead.

The community has baptized these 'god rolls' - mostly due to their sheer power and how they increase each weapon's capabilities even further, or compensate some weapons that might be lacking a buff to be optimal with the rest.

Here is our recommended Hung Jury SR4 god roll in Destiny 2:

Let's start with the perks. Firefly is a perfect companion for this weapon. Precision kills will increase reload speed and also cause the target to explode, dealing solar damage to enemies in the surrounding area. Since you will most likely be aiming for headshots with the Hung Jury SR4, this perk is a must have.

If you're keen on the idea of pursuing precision kills most of the time, Rapid Hit is a perfect pair. With this perk, all rapid precision hits will temporarily increase the weapon's reload speed and stability. Considering this scout rifle doesn't guarantee a one shot kill, having this buff active often is a great help, and a necessary pair if you're going for Firefly.

Before diving into our secondary option, let's look at the other two columns. First, you're gonna want to pursue Tactical Mag, which buffs +10 to reload speed and magazine size, and +5 to stability. Depending on your preference this might not be a gamechanger - if that's the case, the +10 to the weapon's range from Accurized Rounds makes for a compelling alternative.

If dealing precision kills on a frequent basis isn't your cup of tea, or if you're more interested in PvP overall, then we recommend ignoring Firefly and going for Box Breathing instead.

With it, every time you aim down sight for a short period of time (slightly more than one second) without firing, you'll obtain bonus range and precision damage. This resets after firing or exiting zoom, but it's a great way of gaining another interesting buff - this one targeting both range and damage, which can be deadly.

Lastly, you can't go wrong with Corkscrew Rifling for the barrel, which gives +5 to handling, range and stability. This will further compliment our previous choices nicely.

As per usual, once you have your preferred roll, be sure to upgrade it to a Masterwork to give it a stat boost, ability to generate Orbs on multi-kills, and add the option of a kill tracker!
