Devil's Third's online multiplayer is shutting down this year

Publish date: 2023-03-27

Devil's Third, the debut effort of Ninja Gaiden creator Tomonobu Itagaki's Valhalla Game Studios, only launched last August but it's already shuttering its online multiplayer at the end of the year.

According to Nintendo's official site, Devil's Third is going offline on 29th December at 4am UK time.

It's worth noting that Devil's Third only launched in North America last December, meaning it will have barely been out for a year before its online component is gutted.

Furthermore, players will no longer be able to purchase its Golden Egg micro-transactions after 2pm UK time on 27th June.

The good news is it's getting a price drop at midnight tonight for those interested in getting in on the online action before it's gone forever. The eShop price from will go from £49.99 / €59.99 to £24.99 / €29.99.

Devil's Third received dubious critical reception with Eurogamer contributor Rich Stanton panning it. "Despite a decent stab at multiplayer, however, Devil's Third isn't even average," he lamented in his Devil's Third review. He did, however, note that "Multiplayer is the best part of this game by a long way but, like the rest, is undone by the shooting controls and technical blemishes."

Meanwhile, our Martin Robinson argued that Devil's Third just might be "so bad it's good". Take a gander at it and make up your own mind.
