How to get more Talisman slots in Elden Ring

You start with one talisman slot but can unlock three more by defeating the following bosses along the critical story path:

These, combined with your first slot, gives you four slots in total to use.

Note, if have encountered a bug where you cannot get more than two slots, then following the March 17th, 2022 update you can visit the Twin Maiden Husks in the Roundtable Hold, where they should appear in their shop line-up.

So what should you fill them with? Here are six of the best Talismans we can recommend...

Gold Scarab location

This Talisman increases amount of runes obtained from defeating enemies by about 20%. Easily one of the most useful talismans that's going to be a huge boost when it comes to farming runes for levelling up or buying gear and upgrades.

Acquiring this is however no mean feat as you'll have to journey to the dangerous area of Caelid. If you haven't reached Caelid yet, you can find a shortcut by exploring the ruins very close to where you begin back in Limgrave, taking you to Sellia Crystal Tunnel, which will teleport you to the middle of the region:

From here, the Gold Scarab can be found inside Abandoned Caves, which is east of Smouldering Wall Site of Grace.

Entrance to the cave is across a ravine but you'll be able to get over to it by crossing a tree branch path. However, your troubles have only just begun as the cave itself is a miserable dark place where you can be inflicted by both scarlet rot from the swamp and poisoned by the staff-wielding enemies along the way.

Once you've reached the fog wall, you also need to take down the mini-bosses, two fearsome Cleanrot Knights, one wielding a spear and the other a sickle that has ranged attacks. (When fought in the wild, these are the source of one of the best armor sets, by the way.)

Summoning a spirit is recommended if you're still low-level. Defeat them both and the Gold Scarab is yours.

Erdtree's Favor location

This Talisman slightly raises maximum HP, stamina, and equip load. You can get this near the start as it's located in Fringefolk Hero's Cave, the same place you can get a Golden Seed and the Banished Knight Oleg spirit ashes, and you don't even have to fight the tough boss to do so.

You will however need two Swordstone Keys to open the path. You'll have to avoid the deathtrap on wheels until you reach a point where the path narrows. From here, it's possible to drop down to a hidden location beneath. Here you'll come across some imps as well as a fire trap. Pass those and you'll come to a large area with an altar at the end where Erdtree's Favor is.

However, as you walk across another narrow path, you'll be ambushed by two Grafted Scions in front and behind you. If you're very low-level, this will be an extremely tough fight, and fighting on the narrow path is not recommended as it's very easy to fall to your doom. You're better off running past the Scion in front and then grabbing the talisman.

If you die, you'll still have the Talisman in your possession when you respawn back at the Stranded Graveyard Site of Grace (ideally don't carry too many runes on you when venturing into Fringefolk Hero's Cave). Variants of this talisman can also be found later in the game, raising your maximum HP, stamina and equip load further.

Radagon's Icon location

This talisman is a must for mage builds as it will shorten your casting time for both sorceries and incantations.

You'll be able to find this in Raya Lucaria Academy shortly after defeating the Red Wolf of Radagon mini-boss. From the Debate Parlor Site of Grace, go out the door but before you head further into the courtyard, turn right and go to the back corner and you'll see a side path over the balcony with a ladder at the end.

Climb the ladder and you'll see a broken window you can enter that takes you to a floor above the Debate Parlor. Head to the right and you'll find a chest with the Radagon Icon inside.

Green Turtle Talisman location

Stamina is one of the most important mechanics in Elden Ring, so the Green Turtle Talisman's ability to increase stamina recovery speed makes it a crucial talisman to get. Good news that it's not only easy to find early on, it also requires the least amount of pain to obtain.

You will however need a Swordstone Key on you. Once you do, head to Summonwater Village in East Limgrave with a Site of Grace just on its outskirts. From there, head east of the village and you should find steps leading underground, once you've unfogged the path with a Swordstone key.

Normally, you'd expect to find a mini-boss but this area is just populated with adorable harmless turtles. Head past them and open the door at the end to find a chest with the Green Turtle Talisman inside.

Dragoncrest Shield Talisman location

This Talisman boosts physical damage negation. It's possible to get this quite early on although it's also quite hidden and in a potentially dangerous area if you're at a low level.

To find the Dragoncrest Shield Talisman, you need to go to Bestial Sanctum in Caelid. Normally, getting there requires a challenging journey from Limgrave and you'll also be confronted by a very tough boss near the entrance. However, there is also a teleport you can unlock to get there much easier, located just north of Third Church of Marika at the base of a cliff hidden behind a bush.

Speak to D at Summonwater Village in north Limgrave who asks you to defeat the Tibia Mariner nearby. After you've done this, he should tell you about the teleport to Bestial Sanctum in the Roundtable Hold.

Once you're at Beastly Sanctum, head outside to the cliff edge and you'll notice that there are more structures below. To reach there safely, you should find a spot northwest with large roots sticking out, providing you a platform to drop down.

Once you're down on one of the structures, there's still further you need to descend, so you'll need to make use of any ledges you can see to make your way down. Torrent is recommended for this to make some tricky jumps. You'll also need to be aware of some annoying bat enemies flying around.

When you've made it as far down as you can, follow around the path and you'll pass a platform with a corpse holding a Cinqueda dagger. Head further along and you'll find another corpse with the Dragoncrest Shield Talisman. Just make sure you've killed any enemies nearby so that you can safely fast-travel out of there.

The Dragoncrest Shield Talisman also comes into two other variants with even greater effects, which can be found further into the game.

Once you have settled on a starting class and starting Keepsake item, you should first work out how to level up, how to respec and use Ashes of War. Need some direction from there? Try finding Golden Seeds, Sacred Tears, Crystal Tears, Talismans and some of our best weapon and best early armor set choices. If you are approaching the end game, we can help with the Volcano Manor quest and Rykard, Haligtree Secret Medallion locations, solving the Ordina, Liturgical Town puzzle, the Millicent quest and defeating the hardest bosses including Commander Niall, Morgott, Godskin Duo, Maliketh and Malenia.

Pearldrake Talisman location

This Talisman boosts non-physical damage negation, i.e. elemental attacks like magic. Like Dragoncrest Shield Talisman, this also comes in different variations, but here is how to get the base version early.

Head to Four Belfries in Liurnia and there will be three teleports, with each requiring an Imbued Sword Key to activate. If you haven't acquired any yet, there's fortunately one inside a chest at the top.

Activate the first teleport as you ascend and this will take you to Crumbling Farum Azula, a late game area.

You can drop down to a few other crumbling platforms below you, one which has two very powerful enemies, one wielding a spear and the other who can attack at range. If you drop to another platform on the edge you'll find a corpse with the Pearldrake Talisman.

To escape, you can either die and respawn back at your last Site of Grace or kill the two enemies before it's safe to fast-travel back out.

Enjoy using your new Talismans!
