Fallout 76 Fire Breathers exam answers and Into the Fire physical exam route explained
The Fallout 76 Fire Breathers exam is a mandatory test as part of the game's main storyline.
In order to join the Fire Breathers - a faction of firefighters out in the wilderness - you must first answer a series of questions. Answer them all successfully - which our Fire Breathers exam answers can help with - and you're in.
Of course, you're not done there - there's also the Into the Fire physical exam and other steps before you can call this mission complete.
Fallout 76 Fire Breathers exam answers
First, play the main story until you are told to Explore the Charleston Fire Department (it comes after completing An Ounce of Prevention).
Upon finding it, you'll begin the Into the Fire quest.
Head inside, then follow the marker until you reach terminals upstairs. Start the prompts to begin the Fire Breathers exam, allowing you to join.
The Fire Breathers exam answers are as follows:
- Fire Breathers exam answer 1: Evacuate as quickly as possible
- Fire Breathers exam answer 2: A water-soaked rag
- Fire Breathers exam answer 3: Gently bind the burn with clean bandages
- Fire Breathers exam answer 4: Retreat immediately
- Fire Breathers exam answer 5: 1 pt. Purified Water, 2 Ash Rose, 2 Blight, 2 Soot Flower
- Fire Breathers exam answer 6: Fall back and engage from a distance with firearms
- Fire Breathers exam answer 7: End his life as mercifully as possible
Answering all seven correctly will then see you initiate the physical exam for entering the Fire Breathers.
How to complete the rest of Into the Fire, including the physical exam
With the Fire Breathers exam answers complete, it's time to take the Into the Fire physical exam. Here's where to go on the map:
The waypoint is located specifically at a location named the Charleston Herald. It's technically easiest if you go round the front of the building through the main entrance, but we found coming from the direction of the Fire Department to the south meant you can also through the back.
To do so, find the stair-like rubble like so:
After passing a bath, head up, then right to reach the terminal on the balcony:
Grab the Holotape from the side of the terminal, activate the terminal, and start the physical exam. Note you must press the button on the right to start the first checkpoint before setting off - which the game doesn't make explicitly clear!
To complete the physical exam, you need to follow the red arrows and the Fire Breathers markers - which is a blue and white circle with a red heart inside.
Here is the complete physical exam walkthrough, which is easier shown by video:
Need more help? If you are following the main storyline, then you'll come across the Type-T Fuse location and Fire Breathers exam answers quests. If you're after online activities, there is Fallout 76 Workshops and base building and how to unlock PvP. If you're after higher-level goals, then we recommend observing the level zones map, unlocking Atom Challenges, plus how to join the Enclave and launching nukes with launch codes.
If you can't watch it, the points we struggled with were...
In the first building, turn left immediately - here's the doorway you must enter, looking at it face on. Don't go right!
After a while you'll emerged looking out of a destroyed building. There is a sign on the building opposite, which points down and left. So do so - drop down to the ground outside, and head left and over the water. From here, look out for the white and red arrows - which are harder to spot, but will guide you.
After hitting the B checkpoint, you have to make your own way back. The initial arrows will guide you past a bell and onto a main road. Simply follow this road until you come back to the Charleston Herald, which will eventually be on your left. If you're not sure how far to go, consult your map, as the arrows are hard to spot on this stretch.
As long as you hit the checkpoint A button again within three minutes, you will complete the physical exam. You now have to head to the final exam site, which is further south, in the Ash Heap region:
Compared to the above, this is a lot more straightforward. Grab the equipment from the terminal near the robot, equip them - including the Anti-Scorched Training Pistol which does extra damage against Scorched enemies, of which there will be plenty - and head into the mine.
You'll have a choice of going left or right close to the start - it doesn't matter which. (If you go right and come to a locked Security Door, then there are steps down on the right, which are easy to miss.)
Follow the route, killing enemies as you go. After activating the beacon, then simply head back up to the terminal to complete the mission. Nice one - that's Into the Fire complete!
