Minecraft's Herobrine world seed has been discovered

Publish date: 2022-11-09

The seed to the world of Minecraft's fabled Herobrine has been discovered.

The seed was found last week by andrew_555, aka Kminster, who kicked off their search on 5th September, 2020. Kminster admitted it "probably about 50 hours in total for developing/writing the code", but eventually stumbled upon the world on 16th January.

"Ever since the first Herobrine Creepypasta, people have faked his world multiple times", teases the video description (see below). "So we used our seed cracking knowledge from Pack.png and the Minecraft panoramas to find the seed once and for all!"

"Note that Herobrine is not real and has never been, this is just the seed used for the original creepypasta image," a Minecraft moderator reminds posters on Reddit.

To visit yourself here are the details, although note you'll need Minecraft Java Edition with "historical versions" activated. Select version a1.0.16 and use this information, or download this prepared world file (thanks, PC Gamer):

The discovery comes after recent efforts also unearthed the seed for Minecraft's fabled pack.png image - dubbed "the most iconic image in Minecraft history" - and the famous title-screen background panorama.
