Pokémon Go Gen 5 Pokémon list released so far, and every creature from Black and White's Unova region listed
Pokémon Go's Gen 5 will bring a grand total of 156 new Pokémon for you to hunt down and capture.
Gen 5 has the third largest addition of new creatures since the game's release in 2016, offering over 40 more Pokémon than Gen 4 and only narrowly defeating Gen 3's total of 130 new Pokémon.
Gen 5 Pokémon hail from the Pokémon franchise's fifth generation of games - Pokémon Black, White, Black 2 and White 2. Unlike previous generations, Gen 5 is made up of completely original Pokémon. This makes it the first generation since Gen 2 to not introduce new Baby Pokémon or evolutions for previous generations.

What you need to know about Pokémon from Gen 5
Heralding from the Unova Region, Gen 5 follows the traditions that were set by the previous generations. There are three starter Pokémon - Grass, Fire, Water type - that each have two evolutions, a wide array of Legendaries and a new normal type bird Pokémon.
Here are some cool facts about Gen 5 that help it stand apart from the previous generations:
- Gen 5 is composed completely of original Pokémon - there are no new baby Pokémon or evolutions from previous generations.
- Many of the Pokémon have special conditions tied to their evolutions. This includes reaching high friendship levels, trading specific Pokémon and a range of different evolution stones.
- There are nine Legendaries, and four Mythical Pokémon in Gen 5, making it the first generation to not introduce more Legendaries than the previous one.
- Victini, the Legendary Pokémon of victory, is the only Pokémon to appear before its region's starters in the Pokédex. In the Unova Pokédex Victini's number is 000, which also makes it the only Pokémon with this Pokédex number. The reason behind this placement could be that Victini is said to bring victory to the trainer who befriends it.
- The Swords of Justice Legendaries - Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion and Keldeo - are based upon 'The Three Musketeers' by Alexandre Dumas.
- Gen 5 introduces the largest amount of new Pokémon compared to all the current generations - 156.
- Trubbish is from Gen 5.
The Season of Go has arrived! The Pokémon TCG Crossover event is here, which includes the release of Wimpod and Golisopod. While Go Fest 2022 may be behind us, there are still three special research quests you might be working on - Pokémon Go Fest 2022, Rhi's Arrival and A Radiant World. Meanwhile, the Great League and Great League and Great League Remix are currently running in the Go Battle League Season 11. This season has also seen the lowering of the level requirement for Candy XL and introduced the first Ultra Beast, Nihilego.
Pokémon Go Gen 5 Pokémon List
As with the previous four generations, most evolutions should require Candy, but as with the Sinnoh Stone for Gen 4, there is also a Gen 5 specific Unova Stone. Since you can now trade Pokémon in Pokémon Go, we wouldn't be surprised if that mechanic was used to evolve Pokémon too - just like in the main games. We'll know for sure when they release.
