Pokémon Unite tier list explained
Pokémon in Pokémon Unite are divided into five categories - All-Rounder, Attacker, Defender, Speedster and Supporter. Despite this, there are still a number of Pokémon which stand out against the rest.
Here are the top tier Pokémon for Pokémon Unite, along with their categories, based upon our experience with the game:
- Lucario - All-Rounder
- Pikachu - Attacker
- Snorlax - Defender
- Absol - Speedster
- Hoopa - Supporter
Below you'll find tier lists for each Pokémon category, which contain more information about the individual Pokémon, and, please remember, these are subjective, so you may have different preferences.
All-Rounder tier list for Pokémon Unite
All-Rounder Pokémon in Pokémon Unite have a close balance of offense and endurance, which helps make them reliable fighters.
At the time of writing, there are four All-Rounder Pokémon in the game - Charizard, Machamp, Dragonite, Azumarill, Lucario, Garchomp, Aegislash and Tsareena. Charizard is one of the Pokémon Unite licenses you can choose from after completing the tutorial.
Here is the tier list, going from highest to lowest, for All-Rounder Pokémon in Pokémon Unite:
Pokémon | Stats | Notes | |
---|---|---|---|
Lucario | Lucario's brilliant Mobility allows it to keep the top All-Rounder slot, because this stat, when combined with moves like Extreme Speed, allows it trap opponents in a series of powerful attacks. Don't forget about Bone Rush which makes it easier to perform other moves. | ||
Tsareena | If you're playing as Tsareena, then always ensure to include Stomp in your moveset, as its ability to Stun enemies is perfect for crowd control. Its ability - Queenly Majesty - also reduces any effects that are inflicted on Tsareena! | ||
Dragonite | Dragonite's main strength is its Unite Move, which can cause a great deal of damage to those caught by it. Dragon Dance is also a great choice for its moveset and can help it avoid attacks if needed. | ||
Aegislash | While Aegislash is a great All-Rounder, you will mostly need a good amount of practise to unlock its full potential. This is because its moveset and attack mechanics may take you a while to learn, but, once you know what to do, you'll find that Aegislash can be true offensive force. | ||
Machamp | While Machamp is weak during the early stages of a match, it gains access to a selection of useful buffs once levelled up. Machamp also has a strong basic attack that allows it to continue dealing good damage while you wait for its main attacks to recharge. | ||
Charizard | Updates have ensured that Charizard has the ability to properly stand alongside the other All-Rounders. This doesn't, however, mean that you shouldn't evolve it as quickly as possible to unlock moves like Fire Punch. | ||
Garchomp | While Garchomp's early game has been greatly improved and it continues to have a strong moveset, it just doesn't pack as much of a punch as the other All-Rounders. Still, this doesn't mean that Garchomp is a bad choice at all - it will still deal a great amount of damage. | ||
Azumarill | Azumarill is for perfect for fighting one-on-one with an opponent, but that also happens to be its greatest flaw. When it comes to team battles this water mouse flaters and that can really hinder it during the ending stages of a match. |
Attacker tier list for Pokémon Unite
Even though they have low endurance, Attacker Pokémon in Pokémon Unite are the creatures which can deal a heavy amount of damage to their opponents - be it in close combat or at a distance.
At the time of writing, there are six Attacker Pokémon to choose from - Venusaur, Pikachu, Alolan Ninetales, Espeon, Gardevoir, Greninja, Sylveon, DecidueyeCinderace, Cramorant and Duraludon. Pikachu is one of the Pokémon Unite licenses on offer after you complete the tutorial.
Below you can find the Attacker tier list, going from highest to lowest, for Pokémon Unite:
Pokémon | Stats | Notes | |
---|---|---|---|
Pikachu | Pikachu has regained its spot as the best Attacker in Pokémon Unite, while also remaining an ideal choice for newcomrs. It's ability to Stun opponents and high damage output make it a strong fighter for many stage in the match, but especially those crucial final minutes. | ||
Venusaur | With the combination of Giga Drain and Petal Dance, Venusaur remains one of the strongest attackers in Pokémon Unite. The trick to this Pokémon's strength is ensuring you level it up as quickly as possible during the early game by focusing on wild Pokémon. | ||
Alolan Ninetales | Recent improvements to the Aurora Veil move has seen Alolan Ninetales climb the tier list once again. This Pokémon can freeze enemies in their tracks, so your opponents are forced to watch as you attack. You do, however, need to decide whether you want to focus on attacking foes or scoring goals. | ||
Delphox | With the power to deal a great amount of damage from a distance and a fast charging Unite Move, Delphox is a powerful Pokémon in the right hands. You do need to level it up quickly and ensure you're not pinned down by the enemy team, but Delphox can turn the tide of a match as it can easily take on Zapdos. | ||
Gardevoir | Thanks to past updates, Gardevoir is now far easier to level up in the early stages of a match. This means you don't have to wait as long to use its powerful ranged ranges, which can break apart a group of enemies. Just remember - Gardevoir does require some practise. | ||
Espeon | The combined power of Psyshock - which can stun enemies - and Psybeam can cause a heavy amount of damage to the opposing team. Just make sure you aim Psybeam at a foe with a full health bar to take full advantage and stick with a teammate, because Espeon's moves do leave it open for an attack. | ||
Greninja | Greninja comes into its own during the later stages of a match when you've unlocked its full moveset. Double Team will redirect your opponent's auto attacks to the clones, allowing you to get some good hits in before they vanish. | ||
Cinderace | While Cinderace suffers from being weak in the early game, it can become a powerful force once properly levelled up. It's long range attacks, strong Mobility and ability to burn opponents allow it knock Pokémon out one-by-one. Just make sure your aim is true! | ||
Sylveon | Sylveon can easily move between being an attacker to a defender when needs be. It's health stealing abilities are well matched if its offensive attacks, so you easily keep yourself alive even n the midst of battle. A well chosen item to increase its movement speed makes it even more dangerous. | ||
Duraludon | Duraludon is all about being as offensive as possible! The jewel in this Pokémon's moveset is Stealth Rock, which can easily surprise your opponents and reduces their movement speed. Stealth Rock can also be used multipule times before its cooldown is activated. | ||
Decidueye | If you enjoy ranged attacks, then Decidueye is perfect for you. Moves like Spirit Shackle allow it act like a sniper, but this Pokémon low Mobility means you may have issues setting up a shot or retreating if needs be. | ||
Cramorant | How the mighty have fallen. Once Cramorant was a dangerous force, but the new updates have further reduced the power of its moveset. Whule Surf and Whirlpool can still be used to disable its enemies, both Air Slash and Dive have had their damage reduced. |
Defender tier list for Pokémon Unite
Defender Pokémon, as the name suggests, are designed to protect their fellow teammates from attacks in Pokémon Unite.
At the time of writing, there are three Defender Pokémon on offer - Blastoise, Slowbro, Snorlax, Mamoswine, Crustle, Trevenant and Greedent - and Snorlax is one of the Pokémon Unite licenses you can choose from after completing the tutorial.
Here you'll find the Defender tier list for Pokémon Unite and, please remember, that this is subjective:
Pokémon | Stats | Notes | |
---|---|---|---|
Snorlax | It takes an amount of skill and practise to fully utilise Snorlax's abilities, but, eventually, you'll find that Block and Yawn are great at pushing back your enemies. Snorlax's high Endurance stat also helps ensure it's still one of the best Defenders in Pokémon Unite. | ||
Blastoise | You need to reach Level 7 as quickly as possible when playing Blastoise or else you'll find yourself stuck as a rather weak Pokémon. Once you've reached this level, Surf and Rapid Spin will allow you to take control of the crowd with ease. | ||
Greedent | Greedent is another Defender which requires a good amount of skill to properly use thanks to its rather complex game mechanics. Once you've found the balance between Stuff Cheeks, Berry Belly Flop and Belch, however, it can be quite the powerful Pokémon. | ||
Crustle | Crustle sits on the line between Defender and Attacker - while it can push back the opposing team, it can also deal a lot of damage if its traps an enemy in a one-on-one fight. The downside, however, is that, like most Defenders, it doesn't move very fast. | ||
Mamoswine | From freezing enemies to stunning them, Mamoswine is based around causing status effects. While this can be useful in blocking goals, Mamoswine doesn't cause that much damage, so it's a good idea to team up with a teammate. | ||
Slowbro | While Surf and Telekenesis help Slowbro take control of a fight - even forcing the opposing team to retreat - it is hampered by its slow speed and the need to stay with the team to cause proper damage. | ||
Trevenant | Trevenant's gameplay revolves around taking damage to protect its teammates and, while this does help protect your teammates, it doesn't always have the chance to inflict damage. This means you risk leaving your teammates undefended while you respawn. |
Speedster tier list for Pokémon Unite
Speedster Pokémon in Pokémon Unite are known for their high mobility and offence stats, which allows them to both quickly defeat wild Pokémon and score goals.
At the time of writing, there are four Speedster Pokémon to choose from - Gengar, Absol, Talonflame and Zeraora. You have the option to obtain the Talonflame Pokémon Unite license after completing the tutorial.
It's important to note that Zeraora is only available for a limited-time after the game's release, so you might not be able to add it to your collection.
This is our Speedster tier list for Pokémon Unite, going from highest to lowest, and remember - this list is subjective:
Pokémon | Stats | Notes | |
---|---|---|---|
Absol | Absol is the master of critical hits, with moves like Psycho Cut and Sucker Punch allowing it deal a large amount of damage very quickly. The issue, however, is you must take out your target quickly or less you'll be overwhelmed. | ||
Talonflame | Moves like Brave Bird and Fly allow you to travel great distances quickly while also causing a good amount of damage. Talonflame can also heal itself through a well timed Aerial Ace. | ||
Gengar | For Gengar to become a true contender, you need to reach Level 7 and unlock Hex. From this point on, you'll be able to start taking control of the map, while also using its healing mechanic to stay alive longer. | ||
Zeraora | While Zeraora has a selection of powerful moves, they all have long cooldown rates. This means that, unlike other Speedsters, you'll be more vulnerable if you miss your target and may have to retreat from a fight more often. |
Supporter tier list for Pokémon Unite
Supporter Pokémon in Pokémon Unite have the ability to heal allies and attack opponents using status conditions to assist their teammates in defeating their opponents.
At the time of writing, there are three Supporter Pokémon available - Wigglytuff, Mr. Mime, Blissey, Hoopa and Eldegoss, which is one of the Pokémon you can choose upon completing the tutorial.
Below you can find the Supporter tier list for Pokémon Unite, which is organised from highest to lowest and is subjective:
Pokémon | Stats | Notes | |
---|---|---|---|
Hoopa | Unlike the other Supporter Pokémon, Hoopa assists its teammates by allowing them to traverse the map far quicker. Moves like Ring Unbound and Hyperspace Hole not only damage the opposing team, but create warp points for Hoopa's team, which are great if you need to make a quick escape. | ||
Blissey | With excellent healing support, the ability to disable enemies, boost damage and both give and take away debuffs - Blissey is a great Supporter. The downside, however, is that you must stick with your teammates to both stay alive and take advantage of these abilites. | ||
Mr. Mime | Keeping to Pokémon tradition, Mr. Mime is great at creating walls that can divide or push back the opposing team. This Pokémon does take an amount of skill to master, but, after doing so, you'll learn it can also be quite the fighter. | ||
Eldegoss | Eldegoss has the power to both heal enemies and create shields, which makes it a solid Supporter choice. Despite this, new members to the category and recent updates have reduced its usefulness and slowly pushed it down the tier list. | ||
Wigglytuff | Wigglytuff has the ability to both Stun and put enemies to Sleep, which means it's Wigglytuff's job to set immobilise the opposing team, so they can defeated by your teammates. Just make sure you stay with the team or else you may find yourself overpowered. |
