Rome: Total War demo released

We haven't been to war for a while around here. Okay, sure, we've dabbled in a few, but usually only on a unit-by-unit basis. In terms of 'knee-deep in legions of soldiers' scope slaughter, it's been rather quiet on the playable front lately.

Not any more though because, as you may have guessed, we've finally got our hands a demo of Creative Assembly's long awaited follow-up to Medieval: Total War, and you can download it right now from Eurofiles. It's around 162MB in size.

So what do you get for your however-long-it-takes-to-download-162MB? Well, first of all there's a tutorial level played as the Roman Julii Family. Once you've nailed down the basics, you're set to task in the Battle of Trebia mission, played from the perspective of the Carthaginians - one of the many historical battles recreated by the game.

We should be getting our hands on a proper version of Rome: Total War in the coming days, so keep an eye out for our impressions of that. In the mean time, get Rome-ing, and don't forget to check out the readme file for specifics, system requirements and that sort of thing.
