Secret skaters in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 explained

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater wouldn't be a proper Tony Hawk's game if there weren't a couple of secret skaters waiting to be discovered.

Secret skaters are characters that can only be unlocked and played as if you managed to complete a certain challenge or challenges in-game. Once you've achieved this, you'll be able to play as these skaters whenever you like.

One of these secret skaters even resembles a certain actor.

So far, we only know of two secret skaters appearing in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 and these are:

How to unlock skater's outfits in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2

With exceptions, every skater in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater has two outfits that can be unlocked by completing two different challenges while playing as them; exactly which challenges you need to complete depends on which character you wish to unlock outfits for.

There are three different sets of outfit challenges available and each set consists of two individual challenges, with each skater being assigned to a specific set.

It's important to note that you must have game mods disabled if you wish to complete the majority of these challenges. The only skaters that don't have any outfits challenges are the secret skaters and The Ripper who is a deluxe edition exclusive.

Deluxe edition owners should also know that the retro outfits for Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero and Rodney Mullen are automatically unlocked when you start the game, so you don't need to complete any challenges to receive these outfits.

Below you'll can discover which skaters have been assigned to which outfit challenge set:

5 For 1 (Complete a trick above the High Combo Score on 5 Classic Parks) and Combination Lock (Land a Combo above 100,000 points on any Classic Park)

All New Competition (Earn a Medal Score on every competition park in THPS2 Classic) and Go For The Gold (Earn a Gold medal on any competition park)

Original Competition (Earn a Medal Score on every competition park in THPS1 Classic) and Go For The Gold (Earn a Gold medal on any competition park)

Create-A-Skater mode in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 explained

Create-A-Skater mode does exactly what the name suggests - allows you to create a skater you can play as in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.

You can decide the skater's appearance, style of skateboarding, stance, push style and how skilled they are with each skateboarding ability.

The in-game shop will allow you to further customise this character by offering a selection of new clothing items, skateboards and other accessories, such as tattoos and wheels.

You can have a maximum of four Create-A-Skater characters at a time and, if you want to create a new one when this limit is hit, you'll have to delete one of your previous skaters.

Creating your own skater is definitely worth your time, because there's a selection of challenges that can only be completed by Create-A-Skater characters.
